Beach Foodie: the spice of life

IMG_20150427_091956162Magical Monday to you! In my sideways photo this week, I share my two favorite spices; cayenne pepper and cinnamon. I have been craving both of them lately, especially the cayenne pepper so I decided to share some of my uses for both spices. I’m especially enjoying cayenne pepper with eggs and other sources of protein while the cinnamon is a favorite of mine with unrefined cocoanut oil and raw nut butters such as tahini and raw almond butter.
Both cayenne pepper and cinnamon are good for your heart, anti inflammatory, and help lower your blood sugar. Cayenne is a natural detoxifierand stimulates the circulatory system. Mixing cayenne with lemons is a great way to make your own lemonade and boost your immune system at the same time.
In addition to sprinkling cayenne on my food, I been adding cinnamon to my herbal tea at night and mixing with raw cacao and adding to berries, celery, and even raw salad dressing using apple cider vinegar, unrefined cocoanut oil, cinnamon, and a small amount of raw cacao for an interesting flavor burst for spinach and leafy greens.
So this week, I invite you to spice up your life and include cayenne and cinnamon in your recipes to provide great health benefits and great taste.
